Week 3 (19 to 25/8/2012)

For this whole week I was doing research for my project. I was looking for other similar temperature controlled cooling systems so I can differentiate it to my project and put it in the literature review of my project report. I did my research on the internet. One of the things that I found is thermostat.

A thermostat is a component of a control system which senses the temperature of a system so that the system's temperature is maintained near a desired setpoint. The thermostat does this by switching heating or cooling devices on or off, or regulating the flow of a heat transfer fluid as needed, to maintain the correct temperature. A well functioning thermostat can be more advantageous than this project provide, as it basically works as air conditioner with automatic function. But since it needs air conditioner or heater to work, it is still considered to be expensive to be applied to standard home usage. Only wealthy people can afford it, for example smart home using separate thermostats in each room, since it also consumes more energy than standard fan.

Week 2 (12 to 18/8/2012)

In this week, I still looking for the final year project title. Fortunately I have found my supervisor for my final year project. He is Mr. Abdul Halim Bin Abdul Rahman. He is an excellent lecturer for the final year project that I'm doing now. He is in Electronics Section and he specialise in Electronic Gadgets and Renewable Energy. But the best thing about him is that he's willing to be my supervisor even though I picked him in the last minute. He was also supervising a lot of other students who are taking final year project so he should be busy. But he still willing to be my supervisor, this shows how understanding he is.

For my project, I choose temperature controlled fan speed but the supervisor suggested the official title should be Automatics Temperature Controlled Fan Speed using ARDUINO. This project was chosen after a few other projects that I proposed to him were rejected because they were too simple or too general. After a while, my friend recommended me to choose this project, so I did. And then the supervisor finally approved it.

Week 1 (5 to 11/8/2012)

Today is the first week for the semester S2 2012. All students who are taking Final Year Project 1 must choose a supervisor for their final project. They also need to submit their final year project title. For me, I still haven't decided who will be my supervisor yet. Also, I don't know what project should I do for my final year project. All students also required to create a blog for their final year project. Although I have never write a blog in my life, I try to learn how to create a blog. So far, it's exciting to me. So this is my first ever blog and my final year project blog.
